KAY LASH COLLECTION, CARNEGIE PUBLIC LIBRARY, ANGOLA, STEUBEN COUNTY, INDIANA NANCY (KELLY) CHAPIN, 27 MAR 1780 - 16 FEB 1860 DIED In Orland, on the Morning of the 16th ult., NANCY KELLY, wife of JOSIAH CHAPIN, aged 79 years, 10 months and 20 days. MRS. CHAPIN was born in Dummerston, Windham county, Vermont, March 27, 1780, removed at an early age to Wardsboro in the same county, where she married, and in the Spring of 1836 emigrated with her children to Orland, where she resided until her decease. She was a firm believer in the Christian religion, and her life was marked by its morality and christian spirit, while her rare social qualities made her a favorite of both old and young. One of the oldest persons in the county and a pioneer in its settlement, she has followed to the grave, one by one, all her children, and leaves her husband with whom she has shared the joys and sorrows of life, for more than fifty-six years, and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn her loss. He died 03 May 1864. They are buried at Memorial Grove Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. Nancy was the daughter of Alexander and Elizabeth (____) Kelly.
