STEUBRN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 10, 1901 MARY CHAPPEL, 05 Jan 1840 - 06 Apr 1901 Mrs. Mary Chappel, relict of the late Dr. Chappel, who died at her home in Fairview, Saturday, April 6, 1901, was buried from the Fairview Christian church Monday afternoon, April 8, at two o'clock, Elder C. S. Medbury officiating. Mrs. Chappel was born in Wittenburgh, Germany, Jan. 5, 1840, and came to America in 1856. She was the mother of three children, two daughters and one son, the son being the only survivor. Her age was 61 years, 3 months and 1 day. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: "Cemeteries of Steuben County, Indiana, 1990", by Audree Siebel Lewis, Vol. I, page 324 has a Mary CHAPPLE llsted showing she was born 05 Jan 1841 and died 06 Apr 1901, buried at Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Page 323 of the above book lists Julius Chappell, no dates or age, and states that his 2nd wife whom he married on 22 Feb 1874, was a Mary D. Clink. But it also states that he was married a 3rd time on 06 Jun 1887, to Harriet E. Davis. It does not seem that this is the same Mary unless they were divorced which her obituary does not mention.
