STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 1, 1901, page 1, column 6 ELIZABETH (TEETERS) JENNINGS CHARLTON, 29 Feb 1816-19 Apr 1901 Elizabeth Charlton was born near Albany, Mahoning county, Ohio, Feb. 29th 1816 and died at her home in Hudson, Steuben county, Indiana, on April 19th, 1901, aged 85 years, 1 month and 19 da. She was married to Jesse Jennings, August, 1832, and they moved on a farm 2 « miles west of Salem, Ohio, where they continued to reside until her husband's death, which occurred August, 1851. To this union seven children were born, one of which preceded her to the other world, January, 1871. She was married to Wm. Charlton in 1863, taking up a residence in Hudson. She was converted in 1865 and became a member of the United Brethren church, of which there has been no more faithful members than she and her husband. Wm. Charlton died in Septemer, 1889, leaving her again a widow. Six children, one brother and two sisters are left to mourn their loss which is her eternal gain. The three daughters were present, ministering to her last hours. Two sons arrived after her death, the other one being absent on account of poor health. Mother Charlton was conscious to the last and her last utterances were in honor of the Christ she loved so dearly. Mother Charlton was kind and affectionate to her children and loved by all who came in contact with her. She was good in sickness and distress, and will be missed not only by her children, but by all her neighbors and acquaintances. She was always ready and willing to assist any who were in need and contributed liberally to the support of the church. Her christian character and fidelity endeared her to the ministry of the church as well as to the lay membership and today the church mourns the loss of one who has been a comfort in its darkest hours. Services were held at the U. B. church, conducted by Rev. H. C. Foote. A large concourse of people attended. The interment was made in the Circle cemetery, Sunday, April 21.
