KAY LASH COLLECTION, CARNEGIE PUBLIC LIBRARY, ANGOLA, STEUBEN COUNTY, IN FRANCES JAMES CLARK, 27 MAR 1861 - 05 JUN 1915 FRANCIS JAMES CLARK Was born in Jamestown township, Steuben county, Indiana, on March 27, 1861, and passed beyond June 5, 1915, aged 54 years, 2 months and 8 days. His father died when he was a small boy, and, with his mother, sister and brother continued to live in the homestead, he remaining with and caring for his invalid mother until her death in 1906. For a number of years he was actively engaged in the civic affairs of the community, having served as trustee of his township for a term, and being at all times interested in the betterment of conditions, both in rural districts and in the town. On October 17, 1906, he was united in marriage with Miss Alma M. Baum, of Fremont, Ind., who with his brother, Walter Clark, and sister, Mrs. Mary Stroh, survive him. Mr. Clark was a charter member of Fremont lodge No. 261, Knights of Pythias, and for years has continued his fellowship with the organization as a faithful, loyal Knight, ready at all times to perform his part in the work. He was also affiliated with the order of Free and Accepted Masons, as a member of Northeastern lodge No. 210, of Fremont. For some time he had been in ill health, through all of which he was a patient, uncomplaining sufferer, death finally coming as a blessed relief from pain. To know him was to admire his stalwart character, his unwavering devotion to the right, his loyalty to home and friends, his noble though unpretentious generosity to those in need, and his host of friends are left to mourn the loss of a good, true man, who has made the world a better place by his having lived in it. The funeral service was held at the home on Tuesday afternoon at 2 o'clock, the Rev. Kemper officiating. Beautiful music was rendered by the Methodist Male quartette. The impressive service of the K. of P. order was conducted at the grave. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Francis James Clark, 27 Mar 1861 - 05 Jun 1915, married Alma M. (Baum) Clark, 1868 - 1949.
