Mr. Clark was born in Muskingum county, Ohio. He was a member of Company H, 5th Michigan Infantry. He leaves a son and a daughter to mourn their loss. (Allen) Clark, born 21 Jan 1842 in Pembroke, Genesee county, N.Y. and died at her home, 10 Aug 1890, in Pleasant Township. They are buried in Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, IN. Alma was the daughter of Truman Curtis Allen , born 09 Mar 1804 in Charlton, Saratoga County, N.Y. On 25 Dec 1833 in Genesee County, N.Y. he married Mahala Jane (Burroughs) Allen, born 03 Feb 1817 in Hanibal, Oswego County, N.Y.; died 16 Mar 1901 in Scott Township, Steuben County, IN. They are buried in Dygert Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. Samuel served in the Civil War, Co. H, 5th Michigan Volunteers. CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE OF SAMUEL AND ALMA: DGTR: Jennie Bell (Clark) Jordan, ; 27 Sep 1872 - 08 Dec 1937, on 12 Nov 1893 in Steuben County, IN, married Cary Thorton Jordan, Apr 1873 - 1942, son of Henry Bloom Jordan, born 09 Jan 1843 in Newfane, Niagara County, N.Y.; died 28 Oct 1915 in Fremont, Steuben County, IN. His 2nd wife whom he married on 11 Feb 1872, (not listed in Steuben County marriages) was Ada (Freligh) Jordan, 20 Apr 1851 - 07 Jan 1929, daughter of George Freligh, 02 Apr 1819 - 19 Jun 1876, and Abaigail (Squier) Freligh, 23 May 1827 - 05 Jun 1898. They are all buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben Coun ty, IN. SON: Elmore Clark not listed in the Cemetery Book. In the 1880 U. S. Census in Nebraska, he was listed as 16 years old. This information could be incorrect. Samuel's wife, Alma, had a large family of siblings. Those born in New York were David Burroughs Allen, Polly Allen, Jane Mahala (Allen) Wheaton.
