STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 7, 1902, page 1, column 7 WALLACE CLARK, 19 Mar 1831 - 28 Apr 1902 Wallace Clark was born in the state of New York, March 19, 1831, and died April 28, 1902, aged 71 years, 1 month and 9 days. He came west in an early day, and with his parents settled near Flint, Steuben county, Ind., where he spent quite a large part of a busy life. He was united in marriage to Mary L. Brown, Aug. 28, 1853. To this union was born one child, now Mrs. L. J. Corwin, of Kinderhook, Mich. Mr. Clark being of an enterprising turn of mind built the Flint Mills, dealing quite largely in real estate, shipped stock and engaged in various other enterprises. He came to Kinderhook in about 1868, and settled on the farm now owned by J. D. Conklin. He made Kinderhook his home until about 1880, when he returned to Flint, Ind., and went into the milling business, which he continued there and at Nevada Mills during the remainder of his business career, and for the last 4 years he has lived a retired life with his daughter. He was a neighborly neighbor; always ready to aid in the advancement of the community in which he lived. A great many of the older people of Branch and Steuben counties know his life, which we believe is universally respected, but he is gone, the world that knew him once shall know him no more forever. May we strive to emulate the good in such men, that the world may be the better that we have lived in it. Mr. Clark was buried in the Knauss cemetery, Wednesday, April 30, Rev. Gulick officiating.
