Jordan Was born in Canoga, Seneca county, New York, Jan. 21, 1829, and was the eighth child of a family of eighteen on her father's side. She was married to Alonzo Cobb, July 22, 1852, in Phelps, New York, and was the mother of two daughters, Mrs. Jason Poland, of Angola, and Mrs. Charles Bew, of Chicago. There survive Mrs. Cobb, whose death occurred Dec. 29, 1905, the husband and daughters, one granddaughter, two brothers, John Jordan, of Wyland (s/b Wayland), Michigan, and Henry Jordan, of Angola, and two sisters, Mrs. Rettie Healey and Mrs. Mort Thompson, of Angola. Mrs. Cobb came with her family to Angola in 1860, and in 1868, united with the Methodist church and remained a consistent, loyal member until her translation. At the ripe age of nearly 77 years she exchanged the uncertainties for the realities and bliss of eternity. The funeral was held in the M. E. church, Angola, Sunday afternoon, Dec. 31, Rev. J. K. Walts officiating. Interment in the Jordan cemetery. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Amanda M. Amanda was the daughter of Charles David Jordan, 04 Nov 1794 - 04 Apr 1873, and his 2nd wife, Sarah (____) Jordan, 1801 - 11 Nov 1840. His 1st wife was Rachel (___) Jordan, Sep 1794 - Sep 1825. His 3rd wife was Alvira (Bloom) Jordan, 1816 - Mar 1889. They are all buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE OF AMANDA AND ALONZO: Helen Alfretta (Cobb) Farrel/Farral Poland, 1853 - 1919, who married 1st, Elmer Farrel/Farral, 17 Oct 1850 - 04 Oct 1874. On 07 Dec 1879, she married Jason Poland, 02 Sep 1854 - 21 Nov 1928. Jason was the son of George Washington Poland, 06 Sep 1825 - 13 Jan 1916, and Sarah (Barr) Poland, 10 Mar 1825 - 21 Jun 1908. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Martha/Matttie R. (Cobb) Bew, 1855 - 1918, on 24 Jul 1878, married Charles Bew, 1850 - 1912. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. CHILDREN OF FATHER'S FIRST MARRIAGE TO RACHEL (___) JORDAN: (Half brother and sisters) Elizabeth Jordan, Feb 1817 - Jul 1819. Mary Jordan, Dec 1818 - May 1822. Eliza Jordan, Dec 1819 - Mar 1822. Susan (Jordan) Vantine, Jan 1823 - died after 1900 in Erie City, New York. Sally Ann (Jordan) Maynard. William F. Jordan, May 1825 - Nov 1825 (the mother died about 4 months after the birth of this baby and the baby died about 2 months after his mother died). (Believe all are buried in New York even though they are listed in "Cemeteries of Steuben County, Indiana, 1990" at Jordan Cemetery.) CHILDREN OF FATHER'S SECOND MARRIAGE: AMANDA'S MOTHER, SARAH (____) JORDAN: David Jordan, Dec 1830 - Sep 1841, buried at Jordan Cemetery. Mary Ann Jordan, no other information. Margaret J. (Jordan) Parrish, 25 Feb 1833 - 19 Feb 1898, possibly buried at Circle Hill Cemetery with husband Orlow W. Parrish, born 20 Mar 1823. He married 1st, Sally (Dunham) Parrish on 11 Jan 1846. She was born 25 Dec 1814 and died 24 Nov 1850 and is buried at Fremont Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Orlow married Margaret J. (Jordan) on 31 Oct 1852. He was Steuben County Recorder in 1861. Circle Hill Cemetery records show him owning Lot 10 in Sec. 8 but there are no markers, no dates of burial. Alonzo Jordan, born 1836. John Jordan, 24 Jun 1839 - 27 Aug 1921, was born in Niagara County, New York. On 20 Dec 1866, married Marrion (Abbott) Jordan, born 28 Jun 1843 in Coldwater, Branch County, Michigan, and died 15 Nov 1924. John and Marrion both died in Wayland, Allegan County, Michigan. CHILDEN OF FATHER'S THIRD MARRIAGE: (half brothers and sisters) Henry Bloom Jordan, 09 Jan 843 - 28 Oct 1915, married 2nd, Ada (Freligh) Jordan, 20 Apr 1851 - 07 Jan 1929, daughter of George Freligh, 02 Apr 1819 - 19 Jun 1876, and Abigail (Squier) Freligh, 23 May 1827 - 05 Jun 1898. They are all buried at Jordan Cemetery. Harriet Jordan, 1845 - no date of death, listed on the 1880 U.S. Census. Dr. Andrew T. Jordan, 03 Sep 1848 - 19 Apr 1880, buried at Jordan Cemetery. Loretta/Rettie (Jordan) Healy, 25 Jan 1852 - 15 Aug 1906, buried at Jordan Cemetery. No information on husband. Charles O. Jordan, 26 Jul 1852 - 25 Jul 1886, married Nancy E. (Spangle) Jordan, 1857 - 1936. Charles is buried at Jordan Cemetery. Nancy is buried with son, David Charles Jordan, 1876 - 1961, at Circle Hill Cemetery. Eleanor (Jordan) Thompson, born 1855.
