V. and Sarah Cole, was born in Milton Mahoning county, Ohio, April 10, 1845, and died at his home in Scott township, Steuben county, Indiana, July 22, 1914, aged 69 years, 3 months and 12 days. The deceased moved to Indiana in 1856. In 1863 he enlisted in Co. A, 129th Ind. Regiment, serving for one year and eight months until the close of the war, being commissioned as a lieutenant at the time of his discharge. In October 1870, he was married to Augusta Sisson, who died the following year. He was again married in 1872 to Miss Patience Elliott, and to them were born six children, Clementia J. Bachman, who died March 19, 1910; Samuel S.; Mrs. Blanche Harbaugh, of Ray; John Jr., who died March 22, 1892; Leslie E. and Rho E. The wife, three children and six grandchildren survive him. He was an industrious and upright citizen, served his country faithfully in time of need, and will be missed by a large circle of friends. Funeral services were held at the late home on Friday, July 24, by Elder John R. Golden, with burial in Circle Hill. The B. J. Crosswait G. A. R. Post assisted in the services, and Miss Mildred Bailey, daughter of the Post, sang. Sisson who died Sep 1891, aged 73 years, 10 months and 27 days and his first wife, Mary F. (Gifford) Sisson, born 01 May 181_, Tompkins County, N.Y.; died 23 May 1879. Ettie Augusta is buried with her parents as was customary when a young person died so soon after marriage. John Scott is buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, IN. All the others are buried at North Otsego Cemetery, Steuben County, IN. John's parents were Jacob V. Cole, 03 Mar 1812 - 03 Feb 1886, and Sarah (Geer) Cole, 26 Jul 1818 - 23 Sep 1886. In 1872 John married Patience (Elliott) Cole, 29 Jun 1839 - 18 Apr 1923, daughter of Mulford B. Elliott, 23 Apr 1801 - 17 Jun 1877 and Betsy (Bowles) Elliott, 02 May 1801 - 28 Jan 1870 (died in Portage County, OH). Patience was the last of a family of 10. Two of her sisters were Louisa Elliott, 07 May 1828 - 25 Aug 1892 (in Ohio); and Janette A. (Elliott) Cole, 1835 - 1896 who married Cyrus V. Cole, 1836 - 1907. Patience and sister Janette Cole and her husband, Cyrus Cole, are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE OF JOHN AND PATIENCE: DGTR: Clamenza Icadora (Cole) Bachman, also known as Chlay Menzie Icadora (Cole), 15 Mar 1875 - 19 Mar 1910, on 05 Nov 1902 in Coldwater, Branch County, MI, married Albert Jauces (John) Bachman, born 1867 in Kinderhook, Branch County, MI, and died 23 Oct 1933 in Branch County, MI. He was the son of John Bachman, born in 1812 in N. Y. and Matilda (Jameson) Bachman, born 04 Feb 1829 in Butler County, PA. Clamenza is buried on the father's cemetery lot as a Cole. Perhaps Albert if buried in Branch County, MI. SON: Samuel A. Cole, 31 May 1876 - 1960, on 03 Feb 1903 married his 1st wife, Myrtie/Mertilda (Harbaugh) Cole, born 03 Feb 18761 in Van Buren, Hancock County, OH; died 01 Mar 1937 in Angola. She was a sister of James William Harbaugh. Found no information on a 2nd wife. Samuel and Myrtie are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. DGTR: Blanche (Cole) Harbaugh, 02 Dec 1877 - 06 May 1919, on 28Feb 1904 became the first wife of James William Harbaugh, 27 May 1878 - 09 Nov 1962 who was a brother of Myrtie/Mertilda (Harbaugh) Cole, Samuel's wife. James was the son of Joseph Harbaugh, born 04 Apr 1826 in Fayette County, PA, and died 28 Jun 1907 in Jamestown Township, Steuben County, IN. On 10 Nov 1864/65 in Findlay, Hancock County, OH, he married Lucinda (Shupe) Harbaugh, born on 02 Nov 1844 in PA and died 13 Feb 1921. Joseph was the father of twelve children, nine of whom with his wife, survive. Blanche and James William Harbaugh are buried in Fremont Cemetery, Steuben Co. IN. www.rootsswebworldconnect.com listing says Joseph in buried at the Jamestown Cemetery but there is no listing in Audree Seibel Lewis' cemetery books. James William Harbaugh's 2nd wife was Emma D. (Hartmann) Harbaugh, 06 Mar 1884 - 1962. They were married l6 Oct 1920 in Angola, Steuben County, IN. Emma was buried at Fremont Cemetery. SON: Johnnie Cole, born in 1879 in IN, died 22 Mar 1897. He is buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. SON: Leslie E. Cole, 1881 - 31 Dec 1961, married Katie P. (Stokes) Cole, 1889 - 1960. They are buried at Lakeside Cemetery, Steuben County, IN . SON: Rho E. Cole, 1885 - 1918, buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
