STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, November 25, 1896, page 8, col. 2 CHARLES HARVEY COLLINS 10 Apr 1839 - 17 Nov 1896 Died, at his home in Jamestown township, Indiana, Nov. 17, 1896, Charles Harvey Collins, aged 57 years, 7 months and 7 days. Mr. Collins' parents were among the early pioneers that came from the state of Vermont and settled in Jamestown township, where he was born April 10, 1839, and where he resided as a farmer most of his lifetime, and laid up a competence for himself and family. He was married to Lucy Carroll June 18, 1871, who with four sons and two daughters survive him, and who carefully and lovingly cared for him during his long and painful illness. Funeral services were held at the house, Rev. Sumwalt officiating, and he was laid to rest in Jamestown cemetery. "Friend after friend departs; Who hath not lost a friend? There is no union here of hearts, That hath not here an end."
