ELIZABETH/BETSEY (HOLLISTER) CONKLIN, 26 Jul 1830 - 16 Sep 
1912

   Betsey Hollister was born in Cataraugus county, New York, 
July 26, 1830, and died at the home of her son George, in 
Angola, Indiana, September 16, 1912, aged 82 years, 1 month 
and 20 days.  In 1854 she was married to Ensign Conklin, who 
preceded her in death, Jan. 12, 1904.  To this union were 
born six children--George Conklin, of Angola, Ind., Dora 
Shorter and Debba Lepley, of Salem; Guy and Flo of Fort 
Wayne, and Della, who departed this life December 25, 1891.
   A short service was conducted by the Rev. John Humfreys at 
her son's home in Angola, Wednesday, and at 11 o'clock the 
service was held at Trinity church near Salem.  It was from 
this church her husband was buried eight years ago.
   Mr. Humfreys spoke by request, from the 23rd Psalm, "The 
Lord is My Shepherd, I Shall Not Want."  The interment was at 
the Hollister cemetery.

1912, on 28 Apr 1854, married Ensign Conklin, 01 May 1826 - 
12 Jan 1904.  They are buried at Hollister Cemetery, Steuben 
County, Indiana.  Elizabeth was the daughter of Artemus 
Hollister, 27 Jul 1810 - 04 Mar 1871, and Clarissa (_______) 
Hollister, 19 Sep 1803(?) - 20 May 1880.  They are buried at 
Hollister Cemetery.  Ensign was the son of David and Polly 
(VanVliet) Conklin.

CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE;

   George A. Conklin, 24 Mar 1855 - 30 Aug 1922, on 02 Apr 
1882, married Mary Catherine (Harpster), 03 Oct 1859 - 15 Jul 
1938.  Mary was the daughter of John Harpster, 18 Jul 1828 - 
02 Apr 1888, and Mary Margaret (Sunday) Harpster, 11 Dec 1829 
- 25 Nov 1885.  They are buried at Mt. Zion Cemetery, Steuben 
County, Indiana.
   Dora (Conklin) 05 Jun 1856 - 23 Jan 1914, on 26 Nov 1887, 
married George Melvin Shorter, 1856 - 1939.  Dora is buried 
at Hollister Cemetery; George is buried at County Line 
Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Debra/Debbie (Conklin) Lepley, 02 Sep 1861 - 1945, on 04 
Jul 1888, married William E. Lepley, 07 Feb 1862 - 1949.  
William was the son of Samuel Lepley, 1830 - 1909, and Anna 
Catherine (Hender) Lepley, 1832 - 1909.  They are buried at 
Hollister Cemetery.
   Guy Conklin, 1861, no date of death, on 02 Jul 1892, 
married Ella (Frederick) Ensley, 1866 - 1916.  Guy's burial 
place unknown; Ella is buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, 
Steuben County, Indiana.
   Flora Conklin, 04 Oct 1868 - 15/21 Apr 1968, married ___ 
Parnell.  Flora was 99 « years of age when she died.  She is 
buried at Hollister Cemetery.
   Della Conklin, 30 Aug 1857 - 25 Dec 1891, burial place 
unknown.
