STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, 14 Jul 1897, pg. 4, col. 3 DIED in Scott township, Steuben county, Indiana, July 11, 1897, Lyman G. Covell, aged 86 years, 10 months and 16 days. Deceased was born in the town of Vienna, Oneida county, New York, Aug. 25, 1810. At the age of twenty-five years he moved to Ridgeway, Michigan, where on May 13, 1840, he was united in marriage with Elizabeth M. Hollis, and the same year they came to Steuben county, Indiana, which was their home until death. To the union were born seven children, three boys and four girls. Two sons and two daughters and the mother and wife preceded him to the land of rest. The children living are: Mrs. Elizabeth J. Otis, of Butler, Indiana; Mrs. Jerusha E. Clark, of St. Paul, Minnesota, and William S. Covell, who resides on the old homestead. Father Covell shared in the hardships and privations of a new country and did his part in lightening the burdens and sorrows of the people with whom he was acquainted. He was identified with the Methodist church in New York and Michigan, but after coming to Steuben county he united with the Christian church. He was a true husband, kind father and true friend. Funeral services were held at the home July 13th, conducted by Elder D. C. Hanselman, burial in the old cemetery north of Angola. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Lyman G. Covell, died 16 Jul 1845, aged 4 years, 1 month and 27 days. Born 20 May 1841. Another source gives Jennett's date of birth as 19 May 1841. Son: Abyram C. Covell, died 06 Aug 1846, aged 2 years, 9 months and 21 days. Born about 16 Oct 1843. Son: William S. Covell, 1850 - 22 Mar 1909, married Maria Elizabeth (Crawford) Covell. Son: James L.
