GEORGE CRISSINGER, 14 Jan 1828 - 04 Jun 1904

   George Crissinger was born in Hanover township, Columbiana county, O., 
Jan. 14, 1828, and died in Richland townshuip, Steuben county, Ind., June 
4., 1904, aged 76 years, 4 months and 20 days.
   He was the oldest of ten children, and makes the fifth to depart this 
life.  On Jan. 10, 1851, he was married to Nancy Freed.  Four children 
were born to them, one daughter and three sons.  The daughter and one son 
departed before the mother who died Jun 17, 1878.  Deceased was again 
married to Katherine Need, with whom he lived in happiness till death 
called her Jan. 21, 1900.  Since the death of his last wife he has made 
his home with his son, James, one and one-half miles south of Metz.  
December 3, 1848, the decreased became a member of the Church of Christ 
and has ever since lived an exemplary christian life.  The following comes 
from one of his former pastors, "I have known Brother Crissinger for over 
twenty years.  A more cheerful christian it has never been my lot to meet.  
He has had much in life to discourage him but he refused to be 
discouraged.  He always kept his face heavenward and was always ready to 
talk for the Lord anywhere and everywhere that occasion demanded, but 
better still he was always ready to work for the Lord.  He had the  
missionary spirit.  He attended many of our missionary conventions and 
took a prominent part.  His private benevolence was great and did much 
good that no one except himself, the preacher and God, knew anything 
about.  It was a joy to entertain him in the family; he made all cheerful 
and none could be gloomy in his presence.  In his home life he was all 
that could be desired.  He did not boast of his christian life, but he 
lived it.  Wherever there was sickness there he would be found.  He was 
patriotic, always true to his country.  He stood for temperance always and 
everywhere.  Her often said to me that if I preached his funeral he wanted 
me to preach a temperance sermon.  Those who knew him best loved him most.  
I have found him true in every way.  God will reward him for his labors.  
Such a life is worth a great deal to the church, to the world, and to all 
humanity.  He was the elder of the church for many years.  He magnified 
his office."  Such are the words of one who knew the deceased as perhaps 
no other man has known him.   Deceased leaves two sisters, three brothers, 
two sons and two grandchildren, this side the river of death.  He was a 
good citizen, a good neighbor, a good friend, a good Odd Fellow, a good 
husband, a good father, a good grandfather and above all a christian.  He 
died in the Lord, he rests from his labors and his works follow him.

   George Crissinger, 14 Jan 1828 - 04 Jun 1904, in Columbiana, Ohio, 
married Nancy (Freed) Crissinger who died 17 Jun 1878.  George is buried 
at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.  Nancy's burial 
place is not known.
   Son, James M. Crissinger, 20 Aug 1855 - 13 May 1942, married his 1st 
wife, Emeline (Robinson) Crissinger, 04 Aug 1858 - 15 Sep 1926.  They are 
buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
   George married 2nd, Katherine (Need) Crissinger who died 21 Jan 1900.  
Burial place not known.
