Steuben-Republican January 2, 1918 Hosea Dahuff, son of Peter and Sarah Dahuff was born in Columbiana County, Ohio , November 6, 1845 and departed this life at his home in Pleasant Lake, at 9 o'clock in the evening December 16, 1917, aged 72 years, 1 month, and 10 days. He was united in marriage to Elizabeth Wilcox March 1, 1874, and two this union two children were born, Mrs. Emma Hoyer, who resides west of town and Mrs. Lily Stone of Pleasant Lake. He joined the United Brethren Church at Mount Zion under the pastorate of Rev. J.W. Martin, who also performed the wedding ceremony. His membership in the church numbers over 40 years. He came to this county with his parents when a small child and has resided in and near Pleasant Lake ever since. Hosea as he was commonly called was a quiet, unassuming man an everyday toiler, maintaining well his home and family. Leaving home at 8 o'clock in the morning to labor, he fell with a stroke of paralysis while at his task. He with his companion have journeyed through life together nearly 44 years and he has received his promotion a little in advance of her. He leaves to morn their loss his wife, two daughters, two son- in-laws, Hays Hoyer and Clarence Stone, nine grand-children, Raymond Stone, Wayne, Wymond, Basil, Bernice, Doris, Fay and Ray; and Zema Hoyer; one sister Mary Ann Wright, three brothers, John, Edward and Henry, all preceding him in death. A half-brother Charles of Balax, Mississippi, who in not present, other relatives, neighbors and a host of friends who will miss him. *Note by J.A.
