STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 25, 1899, pg. 4, col. 3 DIED at her home in Angola, Ind., Sunday morning, Jan. 22, 1899, Mrs. Rhoda Darling, aged 80 years, 3 months and 16 days. Rhoda Jackson was born at Livonia, Livingston county, New York, and was married to Justin Darling, Oct. 8, 1837, and to this union was born one child, Lucinda E., who died at the age of four years. In 1839, Mr. and Mrs. Darling came to Steuben county, settling in Steuben township, where they began their pioneer life. Her husband died Oct. 7, 1868. Mrs. Darling was a faithful member of the Baptist church at Pleasant Lake. She was kind and courteous in her manners and had a large circle of friends who will mourn her death. Funeral services were held at the home on Tuesday, Jan. 24, Rev. S. L. Roberts, of Pleasant Lake, officiating. Burial in Circle Hill cemetery.
