STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 24, 1899, page 8, column 3 CASSIUS M. DOLPH, M.D., 06 Mar 1869 - 21 May 1899 Cassius M. Dolph, M.D., son of Osman and Jane M Dolph, was born in West Jefferson, Ohio, March 6th, 1860, and died at his home in Pleasant Lake, Indiana, Sunday, May 21, 1899, aged 39 years, 2 months and 15 days. He was a graduate of the Rush Medical College, of Chicago, of the class of '88. After practicing for a short time at Metz, in this county, he located permanently at Pleasant Lake in April, 1889. He has taken an active interest in the general organizations of his profession, being at the time of death a member of the Steuben County, the Upper Maumee Valley, the Indiana State and the Tri-State Medical Associations. He was a charter member of Pleasant Lake Lodge, No. 231, Order of Eastern Star. He was also a member of Pleasant Lake Lodge, No. 401, K. of P., and from its institution to the time of his death he had taken an active part in its work. He was married to Rena Mason, of Pleasant Lake, Feb. 21, 1897. Of his immediate relatives, wife, mother, his brother George O. and his sister Nettie remain to mourn. As a physician and citizen he was widely known and highly esteemed by a wide circle of acquaintances and friends, identified as he had been with the work of his profession and the progress and welfare of the community. Funeral services at the Baptist church, Wednesday, May 24, at 2:30 p.m., Rev. S. L. Roberts, assisted by Rev. A. F. McCloe and Rev. J. T. Ransburg officiating, conducted by the F. & A.M. and K. of P. lodges. Burial in Pleasant Lake cemetery. Dolph, who became a member of Angola lodge, No. (unreadable), K. of P., July 13, 1893, and a charter member of Pleasant Lake lodge, which was instituted May 15, 1894, our first Chancellor Commander, and present Keeper of Records and Seal, and a member of the Grand Lodge of Indiana. We, as Knights, deeply deplore our loss, and it is with pain and sorrow that we have to record the death of our brother, C. M. Dolph. His memory will be cherished in Friendship, Charity and Benevolence by the members of Pleasant Lake lodge, No. 401, Knights of Pythias. Therefore be it Resolved-That we extend to the bereaved family our fraternal sympathy. That his chair in the lodge room be draped for thirty days, and that a copy of these resolutions be spread upon the records of this lodge, a copy delivered to the members of his family, and also published in the Angola papers. Dolph, from labor here below to that house not made with hands eternal in the heavens, he having joined in our great and good work, Jan. 19, 1894, and has since taken an active part in our work. His attendance at our meetings will be greatly missed. Be it Resolved-That our charter be draped in mourning for thirty days, and a copy of these resolutions be placed on our record book, a copy to be delivered to the bereaved wife and a copy given to the county papers for publication. Dolph, a charter member of Pleasant Lake chapter, No. 231, O. E. S., we as sisters deplore this, our first loss, and it is with sadness that we record his death. The chapter of his earthly sojourn is closed, but his many virtues shall not go unrecorded.
