STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 25,1903, page 1, column 6 ASA DUNHAM, 1819 - 15 Nov 1903 Asa Dunham died at his home in Bedford, Ohio, on the 15th last, aged 84 years. This is the fourth death in the Dunham family within eight months. Lorenzo Dunham of this county died last month. About two months ago two sisters died, one 88 years, the other a few years younger. They belonged to a family of ten children, all of whom have lived far past middle age. Only two survive, Alonzo Dunham of this town, aged 91, and John Dunham of Ohio, aged 86. Asa Dunham came to this county in 1845 and bought a tract of land west of Richland Center. In a short time he sold this and bought the farm in York now owned by his nieces Sarah and Emily Dunham. He held this farm a few years making some improvements when he sold it to his brother and returned to the old home in Ohio. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Asa Dunham, 1819 - 15 Nov 1903, was the son of John Dunham, 1783/1785 - 02 Feb 1847/1848, on 08 Jul 1807, married Elizabeth (Hungerford) Dunham, 1787/1792 - 1878/1881. There is no mention of Asa's wife and children in his obituary but the 1880 United States Census for Bedford, Cuyahoga, Ohio, from the Family History Library, Salt Lake City, Utah, #1255009, NA Film Number T9-1009, page #18D, lists: Asa Dunham, self, age 60, born in Ohio. Lucina Dunham, wife, age 59, botn in CT. Ludd R. Dunham, son, age 21, born in Ohio. Myrtle M. Dunham, daughter, age 20, born in Ohio. Loid A. Dunham, son, age 19, born in Ohio. ASA'S SIBLINGS: Ambrose Dunham, 1809 - 14 Nov 1882, in Nov 1838, married Susan Hollister. Chester Dunham, 17 Jul 1810 - 17 Oct 1890, on 17 Jul 1844, married Amanda (Harper) Dunham, 09 Mar 1821 - 05 Apr 1884. They are buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Alonzo Dunham, 16 Aug 1812 - 01 Jun/Jul 1906, on 31 Jan 1835, married Julia (Brainard) Dunham, 05 May 1817 - 26 Oct 1894, daughter of John and Lucinda (Goff) Brainard. Alonzo and Julia are buried in Powers Cemetery. Laura (Dunham) Hubbell, 15 Feb 1815 - 29 Aug 1903, on 15 Feb 1839, married Abraham Hubbell. Elizabeth (Dunham) Wheeler, 16Nov 1816 - about Sep 1903, married William L. Wheeler. John Dunham, 1817 - no date of death. Frederick Dunham, 1819 - no date of death. Phebe (Dunham) Wiggins, 09 Jan 1822 - 30 Jun 1896, in 1845, married Nahum Wiggins. Lorenzo Dunham, 29 May 1833 - 19 Mar 1903, on 14 Mar 1860, married Sarah Ann (Riddles) Dunham, 17 Sep 1839 - 30 Jun 1932. They are buried at Powers Cemetery.
