STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, January 18, 1899, page 4, column 1 LEVI DYGERT, 08 Jan 1820 - 02 Jan 1899 Mr. Dygert was born in the state of New York, January 8, 1820, and at the age of 19 years moved with his parents to Scott township, Steuben county, Indiana, his father having entered the land where Benjamin Dygert now lives. He was married to Sarah Ann Anaway in the year 1844, and to them were born six children, three of whom preceded them. Since the death of his wife which occurred eight years ago, Mr. Dygert has lived with his son Richard in Fremont where he died January 2, 1899, aged 78 years, 11 months and 25 days. Although a great sufferer for years, he was kind and cheerful. Many times in his sickness he said he was ready and willing to go when God's call would come. He leaves three sons, eight grandchildren, four aged brothers and a large number of relatives and friends. Funeral services were held in the M. E. Church at Fremont, Rev. Cone officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Levi Dygert, 08 Jan 1820 - 02 Jan 1899, was the son of Adam Dygert, who died 28 Oct 1858, aged 71 years, 2 months and 5 days, and Jane (Duesler) Dygert, who died 27 Jul 1877, aged 84 years, 8 months and 27 days. Levi married Sarah Ann (Anaway/Anway) Dygert who died 14 Feb 1891, aged 66 years, 8 months and 16 days. Daughter: Nellie Jane Dygert died 11 Aug 1859, aged 3 years, 11 months and 28 days. Son: George A. Dygert, 02 Aug 1870 - 04 Aug 1870, 2 days old. Buried at Dygert cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
