Barbara Eckert

Barbara Miller was born in Cumberland county, Pa., Dec. 23, 1840, and died
at the home of her daughter Mrs. G. A. Corey, Feb. 11, 1920 aged 79 years, 1
month, and 19 days.

She came to Steuben county with her parents when about ten years of age,
since which time this county has been her home.  She was united in marriage
to Jacob Eckert Feb 123, 1866, and to them nine children were born, five of
whom survive;  nameley, Mrs. G.A. Corey, Mrs. Richard Tasker, Joseph and
Peter Eckert, all of Jamestown, and Jacob Eckert of Hamilton, Ind.; one step
daughter, Mrs. Barbara Nettleton, of Saginaw, Mich., fourteen grand-children
and other relatives and friends to mourn here departure.  

She was taken seriously ill January 21st and gradually grew worse until
death came to relieve her sufferings.  For several days preceing her death
her suffering was intense but she bore it all patiently and uncomplainingly.

She was a kind and loving mother and was highly esteemed by all who knew
her.  She was strong believer in the gospel of good works, and was ever
ready to extend the helping hand to those who were sick or in trouble.
