STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 19, 1902, page 4, column 2 CYRENA (GRIPPEN) ELLIS, 24 Aug 1805 - 13 Mar 1902 Cyrena Grippen was born in Onondaga county, New York, August 24, 1805, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Ransom Gates, in Otsego township, March 13, 1902, aged 96 years, 6 months and 11 days. In 1823, she was united in marriage with Arad Ellis. To this union were born five children, two of whom are living, Abagail, wife of Ransom Gates and Mary, wife of George Pattee. The husband died October 15, 1866. Mrs. Ellis united with the M. E. church in early life and was a faithful member until death. Funeral services were held March 14, 1902, at the brick church, Rev. N. P. Barton, M. E. minister of Hamilton, officiating. Burial in North Otsego cemetery. Hamilton Ellis, born in 1826 in Onondaga County, New York, on 03 Aug 1846 in Indiana, married Gratia Brugh. No other information. Lucy Ann (Ellis) Glingan, on 22 Aug 1852, became the 2nd wife of John Glingan. John's 1st wife, Sarah Glingan, died 02 May 1852 when her daughter Sarah was born. Baby Sarah died 22 May 1852. Abagail [Abigail on marriage license] A. (Ellis) Gates, 1833 - 1913, on 10 Apr 1853, married Ransom A. Gates, 27 Mar 1832 - 11 Jun 1910, son of Levi and Sallie Gates. Mary M. (Ellis) Pattee, 1845 - 1919, on 11 Sep 1864, married George K. Pattee, 1840 - 1915, buried at Butler Cemetery, Butler, DeKalb County, Indiana.
