STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 1894, page 5, column 4 ELIZABETH ANN (HIRST) ELLIS, 17 Jan 1833 - 13 Nov 1894 DIED at her home in Scott township, Nov. 13, 1894, Elizabeth Ann, wife of William W. Ellis, aged 61 years, 9 months and 26 days. Elizabeth Ann Hirst was born at Glenham, New York, and was married to William W. Ellis on Dec. 24, 1860. To the union were born four sons who with the husband survive her. She united with the M. E. church in 1857, having thus been a member for nearly thirty-eight years. She was a quiet, exemplary christian, a lover of home and family, and highly respected by all who knew her. Funeral services were conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. E. Erwin, at the South Scott church. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Elizabeth is the daughter of John, 1800 - 1875, and Elizabeth Hirst. They were born and married in England. John died in Newark, Licking County, Ohio. Possible sons: Clark B. Ellis, 1861 - 1900, on 02 Feb 1886, married Adah E. (Burkett) Ellis, born 1864, no date of death. She was the daughter of LaFayette and Sarah (Zimmerman) Burkett. Clark and Adah are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. William A. Ellis, 1865 - 1957, on 24 Apr 1890, married Addie /Adah Kauffman, 1861 - 1914. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. Brother: Joseph H. Hirst, 16 Feb 1834 - 03 Oct 1921, on 06 Dec 1866, married Ellen M. (Ditto) Hirst, 04 Sep 1847 - 12 Sep 1918. They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
