STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, SEPTEMBER 27, 1893, page 8, column 2 JOHN EMERSON, 15 May 1821 - 15 Sep 1893 Died, Friday, Sept. 15, 1893, at his home in Kendallville, Ind., John Emerson, aged 72 years and 4 months. The deceased was one of the pioneers of Steuben county, having settled here as early as 1836. In 1865 he removed with his family from Salem township to Kendallville. He was an elder in the Presbyterian church, and was held in the very highest esteem by all who knew him. They are buried at Block Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Hattie married again. Avery Emerson Jr., 21 Jan 1827 - 24 Mar 1894, on 06 Feb 1853, married Elizabeth S. (Parsell) Emerson, 24 Jul 1833 - 11 Apr 1915. They are buried at Block Cemetery. Emily (Emerson) Parsell, 10 Dec 1828 - 04 Jun 1896, on 13 Dec 1846, married Dr. Aaron G. Parsell, 21 Jan 1829 - 17 Mar 1904. They are buried at O-HUD Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Mary (Emerson) Kimball, 09 Oct 1830/31 - 14 Oct 1902, on 24 Dec 1851, married William MacKenzie Kimball (Kendall in the History Book), 05 Oct 1824 - 28 Feb 1905. They are buried at Fredonia, Kansas. Almira (Emerson) Chapin, 08 Jan 1835 - ______, on 01 Nov 1863, married Augustus Alexander Chapin, 15 Aug 1831 - 10 Jan 1909. Sophronia Emerson, born 1837, burial place unknown.
