Ewers was born in Madison county, Ohio, Dec. 26, 1840, and died very suddenly at his home in Fairview, Friday, Sep. 25, 1903, aged 62 years, 8 months and 29 days. He was a veteran of the Civil War, serving almost four years in Co. A. 44th Ind. Members of the G. A. R. Post officiated as pall bearers at his funeral. Mr. Ewers is survived by his wife, four children by a former marriage, three brothers and three sisters. Funeral Saturday afternoon, Sept. 26, at Fairview Christian church, Elder C. S. Medbury officiating. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Adolphus H. Ewers, 26 Dec 1840 - 25 Sep 1903, married 1st, Emily L. (Austin) Ewers, born about 17 Jun 1846 and died 01 Jul 1880, aged 34 years and 13 days. Emily is buried at Sowle Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. No record of burial place for Adolphus. Adolphus could be the son of James Benjamin Ewers, 19 Jun 1811 - 19 Sep 1872, and Harriet (Sowle) Ewers, 07 Jan 1814 - 31 Oct 1895, buried at Sowle Cemetery. Possible son: Ora L. Ewers, 1876 - 1944, who married Anna J. (Fisher) Sowle, 18 Sep 1877 - 16 Oct 1970, daughter of Hiram and Susan Fisher. Ora and Anna are buried at Sowle Cemetery.
