                    BESSIE ALDRICH FREED
 "Bessie (Aldrich) Freed, daughter of William and Rebecca (Hobbs) Aldrich,
was born August 11, 1901, at Butler, Indiana and passed away April 8, 1955 at
the Cameron Hospital at Angola, Indiana, at the age of fifty-three years,
seven months and twenty-five days.
 Her youth was spent in and around Butler, and most of the remainder of her
life she lived in Steuben county. She was a member of the Methodist Church of
Angola.
 October 9, 1919, she was united in marriage with Ralph Freed.  To this
union were born four daughters, Lois, now Mrs. Harold Nelson of Fremont,
Indiana; Phyllis, who is Mrs. Ernest Pendergrass, of Los Angeles, California;
Joyce, now Mrs. Harold Grabe, of Sturgis, Michigan, and Janean, at home.
 Preceeding her in death were her father, a half-sister, Reba Anstett, and a
half-brother, Holland Swynehardt.  Surviving besides the husband and
daughters are the sons-in-law, also her mother, Mrs. George Swynehardt, and a
half sister, Mary Swynehardt, both of DeKalb, Illinois; seven grandchildren,
Sonja and Connie Nelson, James and Linda Pendergrass and Douglas, Norman and
Carol Grabe.
 Services were conducted at 2:00 p.m. Monday at the Angola Methodist church;
the Rev. L.G. Sapp officiating, assisted by the Rev. Edwin Jaycox.  Interment
was made in the Mt. Zion cemetery.
                   Card of Thanks
 The family of Bessie Freed, wish in this manner to extend our grateful
appreciation to the many friends and relatives. Doctors Rausch and Artz, the
staff of the Cameron Hospital, Rev. Sapp  and Rev. Jaycox for their
conforting words.  Mrs. Jaycox for her music and all kindness shown us during
the sickness and death of our beloved wife, mother and sister.
