STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 1904, page 1, columns 5, 6 MARY M. (DECKMAN) GETTS, 25 Jan 1842 - 22 Feb 1904 Mary M. Deckman was born at Philadelphia, Pa., Jan. 25, 1842, being one of 11 children, died Feb. 22, 1904, aged 62 years and 27 days. She came from Pennsylvania to Stark county, Ohio and from there to Indiana, residing here until her death. She was united in marriage to Lewis Getts, July 17, 1871. She was the mother of two children, who are still living to mourn their loss. There are also two grandchildren and three sisters and three brothers still living to mourn their loss. She was a kind neighbor and a loving and devoted mother. She united with the Reformed church at Paris, Stark county, Ohio, being confirmed by Rev. P. Hesbruck, April 23, 1859, and remained a member until her death. Her funeral took place Wednesday morning Feb. 24 at M. E. church at Salem Center conducted by Rev. J. H. Lautzenhizer, pastor of Reformed church at Hudson, Ind. Interment in Circle cemetery. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The marriage records of Steuben County show the marriage of Lewis Gettz and Lena Dickman on 17 Jul 1870 (not 1871). The cemetery book shows a Lena (_______) Getts, 1842 - 1904, "his wife", Mrs. Lewis Getts, buried at O-HUD cemetery. No listing for Lewis Getts/Gettz.
