STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 6, 1904, page 1, column 5 ABIGALE (FREE) GREENO, 1818 - 30 Mar 1904 Abigale Free was born in Springfield township, Portage county, Ohio, in 1818, and died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. L. C. Dole at Salem Center, March 30, 1904. She moved with her parents to Steuben county in 1838, and was united In marriage to Samuel Greeno, June 10, 1840, who died in 1884. In 1843, she gave her heart to God and united with the M. E. church. She was one of the pioneers of church work in the county, bring one of only twelve who attended the first quarterly meeting held in Steuben county. Mrs. Greeno has been a helpless invalid for several years, but never murmured or complained. The call to come and be at rest came in peaceful sleep. She leaves six children, one sister and four brothers to mourn the loss of a faithful sister and devoted mother. Funeral services by her request were held at the Block church and the sermon was preached by Rev. A. G. Neal from the text--her own selection-- "I have finished my course. I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of life which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearing."
