H. D. Halsey, 76, rural Wolcottville, died June 5 at Millers Merry Manor, LaGrange. He was a retired pastor of churches in Ohio, Michigan, and Indiana. Surviving among others is a brother, Leonard, Angola; four sisters, Sarah Penrod, Gladys Dirrim, Marybelle Wertz, and Blanche DeLancey, all of Angola. Funeral services were last Wednesday at the Beacon Baptist Church, Kendallville, with the Rev. William Johnson officiating. Burial was at Woodruff Cemetery. Preferred memorials are to LaGrange County Cancer Society or Beacon Baptist Church Academy. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The Rev. H. D. Halsley who died 05 Jun 1982, was the son of George and Elizabeth (Bryant) Halsey. SIBLINGS: Sarah (Halsey) Penrod, 28 Jan 1900 - 20 Dec 1997, married Marvin Penrod, 1894 - 1961. They are buried at Flint Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Ernie Franklin Halsey, 14 Apr 1908 - 13 Feb 1980, married Laura Virginia (Brown) Halsey, 25 Feb 1910 - 05 Oct 1983, daughter of Cleo Henry Brown, 23 Jan 1887 - 30 Oct 1956 (twin to Claude E.), and Goldie Mae (Doudt) Brown, 10 Aug 1886 - 03 Apr 1967. Goldie was the daughter of Elias J. Doudt, 19 Jul 1855 - 07 Mar 1938, and his 1st wife, Laura A. (Shank) Doudt, 18 Oct 1856 - 07 Apr 1891. His 2nd wife was Jennie E. (Montooth) Doudt, 05 Nov 1863 - 22 Sep 1917. They are all buried at Flint Cemetery. Gladys (Halsey) Dirrim, 25 Mar 1917 - 24 Jan 2004, on 02 Mar 1933, married Harold H. Dirrim, 1913 - 21 Aug 1968, son of Frank and Mabel (Hanselman) Dirrim. Gladys and Harold are buried at Flint Cemetery.
