EMILY(WAUGH) HARMAN, 03 Oct 1899 - 13 Aug 1987 Emily Waugh Harman, 87, formerly of Angola, died in Florida at her home Thursday. She was born to Mr. and Mrs. James E. Waugh in Angola. Surviving are her husband, Ora Harman, Florida; one daughter Mrs. James (Ellen) Bishop, Lowell, Mass.; and three grandchildren. The Harmans celebrated their 61st wedding anniversary in July. She was the granddaughter of E. O. Rose and a descendant of Calvin Powers, founder of the Powers Church in Scott Township. Mrs. Harman was a graduate of Columbia University Teachers College and was a former teacher at Angola High School. She was a former member of the Congregational Church and Psi Iota Xi in Angola. The family operated Harman Wallpaper and Paint Store in Angola for many years. Memorial services were held Monday at Pasadena Community Church in St. Petersburg. Services will be conducted at Circle Hill Cemetery at a later date. OBITUARY #2, NOTICE OF MEMORIAL SERVICE: Emily W. Harman, 87, died Aug. 13 in Spring Hill, Fla. She was born in Angola. Surviving are her husband, Ora E. Harman, Manchester, N.H.; one daughter, Ellen Bishop, Lowell, Mass.; and three grandchildren. Memorial Services will be held Friday, Oct. 30, at 3 p.m. at the Circle Hill Cemetery with the Rev. Wayne Brass of the First Congregational Church, Angola, officiating. Arrangements were by Weicht Funeral Home, Angola. Harman, 02 Feb 1870 - 20 Jul 1923, and Carrie E. (Johnson) Harman, 1873 - 1954. Burial place for Emily and Ora is not listed in the Cemetery Book. Jesse and Carrie are buried at South Scott Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Emily and Ora had one daughter, Ellen Ann (Harman) Bishop, born 27 Jul 1931 at Battle Creek, Michigan. Emily was the daughter of Winifred (Rose) Gale Waugh, 12 Jan 1867- 1948, who married 1st, in Oct 1888, Waldo Ralph Gale, 14 Aug 1865 - 28 Jan 1893, son of Jesse Monroe Gale, 1828 - 1890, and Elizabeth Catherine (Metzgar) Gale, 1831 - 1893. They are all buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Waldo died 18 days prior to the birth of their 2nd child, a daughter, Rose Catherine Gale who was born 15 Feb 1893. Their 1st child was a boy, Jesse Monroe Gale, 17 Jan 1891 - 30 Aug 1891, who died before he was 8 months old. He is also buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. On 24 May 1898, Winifred married James Edward Waugh, D.D.S, 1858 - 1912, son of Orrin and Roxanna (Brown) Waugh. Emily was a daughter of the 2nd marriage of her mother. Dr. Edwards 1st wife was Rosealba (Poole) Waugh, 21 Sep 1859 - 21 Sep 1885, who died soon after the death of their son, Bertrand Edward Waugh, 27 Oct 1884 - 03 Sep 1885. Dr. Waugh married 2nd, Cora (Woodhull) Waugh, who died in 1908, daughter of Joseph Abel Woodhull and Mary Maria (Brown) Woodhull. Dr. Waugh, his 1st and 2nd wives and son are buried in the same plot at Circle Hill Cemetery. Winifred (Rose) Gale Waugh was the daughter of Harriet (Powers) Rose, 30 Sep 1840 - 07 Dec 1925, who, on 03 Jul 1858, at Amboy, Hillsdale County, Michigan, married Elias Overrocker Rose, 13 Oct 1838 - 22 Oct 1909, son of Jacob Overrocker Rose, 18 May 1814 - 24 Oct 1883, and Mary A. (Comstock) Rose, 03 Jul 1817 - 15 Sep 1900. Harriet and Elias Rose are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery. Jacob and Mary Rose are buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Jacob Overrocker Rose was the son of Elias and Eva (Overrocker) Rose and his wife, Mary, was the daughter of Stephen and Charlotte (Fitch) Comstock. Harriet (Powers) Rose was the daughter of Calvin Powers, 05 Mar 1808 - 06 Jan 1878, and his 1st wife, Maria Emeline (Corey) Powers, 02 Jun 1817 - 22 Sep 1848, daughter of Robert and Elizabeth Corey. Calvin's 2nd wife was Lucy A. (Gilbert) Powers, 04 Jul 1829 - 18 Jan 1888, daughter of Samuel and Fanny Gilbert. Calvin and Maria are buried at Powers Cemetery. Lucy is buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
