STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 1902, page 1, column 6 JOANNA L. (FRELIGH) HERSHEY, 27 Dec 1816 - 20 Apr 1902 Joanna L. Freligh was born in Ontario county, N. Y., December 27, 1816, and died at the home of her son, Latta F. Hershey, in Jamestown township, April 20, 1902, aged 85 years, 4 months and 23 days. April 6, 1837, she was married to Geo. R. Hershey and to this union ten children were born, five of whom survive the parents. Mr. Hershey, the husband and father, died in 1898. Mr. and Mrs. Hershey came to Steuben county in 1849, since which time this has been their home and they will be borne in grateful memory for their pioneer contributions to the county's development. In addition to three daughters and two sons who survive her, Mrs. Hershey leaves one sister, Mrs. Hugh Loney and two brothers, Samuel and Moses Freligh. Funeral took place at the home of her son, Latta, Wednesday afternoon, April 23, Elder C. S. Medbury, officiating. Burial in north cemetery in Angola. Latta Freligh Hershey, 29 Apr 1858 - 22 Aug 1938, on 15 Aug 1879, married Rosetta (Richardson) Hershey, 17 Mar 1862 - 14 Feb 1898, his 1st wife. They are buried at Jordan Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Brother, Samuel L. Freligh, 12 Aug 1820 - 12 Apr 19034, married Elizabeth (Hubbell) Freligh, 07 Feb 1827 - 02 Jul 1918. They are buried at Jordan Cemetery. Brother, Moses Latta Freligh, 12 May 1828 - 30 May 1908, married Elenor (Lockwood) Freligh, 20 May 1833 - 30 Nov 1914, daughter of James and Ann (Berry) Lockwood. Moses and Elenor are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Sister, Mary Elizabeth (Freligh) Loney, 05 Sep 1831 - 08 Nov 1915, married Hugh Loney, 19 Dec 1829 - 29 Aug 1915, son of Richard and Rebecca Loney. Mary and Hugh are buried at Jordan Cemetery.
