STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 24, 1904, page 1, column 6 FLORENCE A. (CARR) HIGHT, 22 Jan 1864 - 17 Feb 1904 Florence A. Carr was born in Jackson Tp., Steuben county, Ind., January 22, 1864, and when eighteen months old her parents moved to Pleasant Tp., near Crooked Lake, where her whole life, excepting the last thirteen years, were passed. During these years she bore her full share of the sorrow and burdens, and entered fully in the joys of an itinerant's life. She was of a cheerful, sunny temperament, always happy in serving others. She was converted at the age of fifteen and her life was a beautiful emblem of her profession. Twenty-three years ago she was united in marriage with J. P. Hight. To this union were born four children, two died in infancy. Glen, the oldest, is serving a four year enlistment in the United States Navy and at this time is at Naples, Italy, and will not know of his bereavement before weeks have passed. She died at Rockford, Ohio, Feb. 17, 1904, aged 40 years and 25 days, and the remains were brought to Gage, Steuben county, Ind., for burial. In her last message she said, "I am prepared! Meet me in heaven." This like a benediction will shed its sweetness on those who are left to mourn their loss through all the years of their earthly pilgrimage. She leaves a father, mother, two sons, husband and many relatives. Funeral services were conducted by Elder J. W. Lilly, of Hicksville, Ohio, Sunday, Feb. 21.
