STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JUNE 3, 1903, page 6, column 6 SARAH CAROLINE (PATTEE) HUNT, 08 May 1842 - 19 Apr 1903 The many friends of Mrs. Sarah C. Hunt, who passed her girlhood days here, will be pained to learn of her death. She was a sister of George Pattee, of Butler. Of five sisters she was the last. Sarah C. Pattee, daughter of William G. and Elizabeth Pattee, was born May 8, 1842, at Defiance, Williams county, Ohio, and died at her home in Baldwin, Kansas, April 19, 1903, aged 60 years, 11 months and 11 days. When a child, she moved with her parents to Morrow county, Ohio, and from there to North Otsego, Steuben county, Ind. At an early age she was converted, and united with the M. E. church, at North Otsego, and ever after lived a constant christian, as all who knew her can testify. Jan. 4, 1866, she was united in marriage with Jonathan Hunt. To this union were born five children, four sons and one daughter. In September, 1872, they moved to Osage county, Kansas, and in the fall of 1889 to Baldwin, Douglass county, Kansas, where she has since lived and made many warm friends by her lovable christian life. The Baldwin Ledger says: "Early in the morning of the Lord's day, April 19, 1903, her immortal spirit took its flight from her home below to her home above. Her last illness was brief, being only a little over two weeks. Yet during her life, she has at many times been a great sufferer. But she has gone to that land, where the inhabitants never say `I am sick.' Her husband, three sons and one daughter, survive her and will miss her, Oh, so much. But they will not mourn her as dead, but as gone before. Funeral services were held at the M. E. church in Baldwin, by her pastor, Rev. S. S. Murphy, assisted by S. Lampman. The remains were laid away in the beautiful cemetery at Baldwin, to await the `Glorious Resurrection Morn.'"
