STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 8, 1899, page 1 column 6 EDWARD C. JOHNSON, 16 Oct 1817 - 05 Mar 1899 DIED at his home in Otsego township, Steuben county, Indiana, March 5,1899, Edward C. Johnson, aged 81 years, 4 months and 18 days. Deceased was born in Otsego, New York, and in 1836, when twenty years of age came with his parents to Otsego township, Steuben county, Ind., where he resided until his death. In June, 1845, he was married to Eleanor P. Mabrey, who died Nov. 28, 1847, leaving one child six days old. January 16, 1848, he married Mary Corbin, and to this union were born four children, two of whom, Mrs. Calista Anderson and Mina May, with the wife survive him. Mr. Johnson had a very pleasant home and was surrounded with all necessary comforts. Funeral services will be held today in the East church at Pleasant Lake, Elder C. S. Medbury officiating. (Corbin) Johnson, 1831 - 1916, daughter of Amos Corbin and 1st wife, Civil Corbin. Edward and Mary are buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Eleanor is buried at Teegardin Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. Cyrenus Johnson, died 20 Aug 1851, aged 5 years and 12 days. If Cyrenus' age and date of death are correct in the cemetery book, he would probably be the child of Edward and his 2nd wife, Eleanor. Elmor H. Johnson, died 25 Aug 1854, aged 5 years 10 month and ___ days. He would be the son of Edward and his 3rd wife, Mary. Both boys are buried at Teegardin Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
