JOHN KAUFFMAN, 16 May 1830 - 21 Mar 1902

   John Kauffman was born in Lebanon county, Penn., May 16, 1830, and died 
at his home near Fremont, Indiana, March 21, 1902, aged 71 years, 10 
months and 5 days.
   On Dec. 1, 1853, he was united in marriage to Marian Foultz.  In the 
spring of 1866 they moved to the farm in Scott township where he lived at 
the time of his death.  Seven children were born to this union, one of 
whom, at the age of ten years, was called to the higher life.  Six 
children, John, Mrs. Anna Zeiters, of Argos, Mrs. Addie Ellis, of Ft. 
Wayne, Mrs. Fremont Folck, Mrs. Lizzie Loose and Mrs. Ella Shaffer and ten 
grandchildren, with the aged mother, mourn the death of the father.  He 
had always been hearty and well, scarcely knowing a sick day, and left his 
dear ones very suddenly.  When death came he was ready to go and 
peacefully passed into the better world.  Her was a kind, loving husband 
and father and for his grandchildren he always had a kind word and smile.  
He also leaves a great many friends and neighbors who sympathize with the 
bereaved one.  The funeral was held at the old home on Sunday morning, 
conducted by Rev. J. A. Sprague.

(Foltz) Kauffman, 1827 - 1912.  They are buried at Lakeside Cemetery, 
Steuben County, Indiana.

CHILDREN:

   Ellen C. (Kauffman) Shaeffer, 1855 - 1942, married A. I. Shaeffer, 1857 
- 1921.  They are buried at Fremont Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  A. 
J. is the son of Samuel, 10 Oct 1810 - 16 Sep 1877, and Susannah (Weaver) 
Shaeffer, 11 Jan 1818 - 09 Feb 1880.
   Adah/Addie (Kauffman) Ellis, 1861 - 1914, on 24 Apr 1890, married 
William A. Ellis, 1865 - 1957.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, 
Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.  William is the son of William W. and 
Elizabeth Ann (Hurst) Ellis.
   John W. Kauffman, 1863 - 1914, married Pollie Ann (Ryan) Kauffman, 1868 
- 1941.  They are buried at Dygert Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  
Pollie is the daughter of John and Amanda (Dygert) Ryan.
   Rebecca (Kauffman) Folck, 1865 - 1955, on 05 Apr 1887, married Fremont 
Folck, 14 Feb 1863 - 1922.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.  
Fremont is the son of John Keiffer Folck and his 2nd wife, Martha (Nichols) 
Rathbun, widow of Niles Rathbun.
   Crysta M. Kauffman, 1869 - 1879, buried at Lakeside Cemetery.
