STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, JULY 9, 1902, page 5, column 5 WILLIAM BARKER KNAPP, 22 Aug 1829 - 30 Jun 1902 William Barker Knapp was born in Cayuga county, N. Y., August 22, 1829, and departed this life at his home in Pleasant Lake, Indiana, June 30, 1902, aged 72 years, 10 months and 1 day. He was the son of Alanson B. and Mary Ann Carver Knapp, and when two years of age moved with his parents to Sandusky county, Ohio, where he lived until grown to manhood. He then spent five years in Iowa, and in 1857 came to Steuben county, where with the exception of four years spent in Iowa at a later time he has since resided. For the past forty-one years he has lived in the present family home. On April 14, 1856, he was married to Mrs. Allathere Bowlsby, who in the afflictions of advanced age, remains to mourn her bereavement. He had been for years engaged in farming and was a man of industrious habits and a good citizen, interested in all matters pertaining to the public good. He accepted the Christian religion as interpreted by the Universalist denomination and has been a faithful and active member of the Pleasant Lake church since January, 1870. He died comforted by his faith. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: The printed birth and death dates do not agree with the calculation of 72 years, 10 months and 1 day; 8 days would be the correct number according to the birthdate calculator. William Barker Knapp, 22 Aug 1829 - 30 Jun 1902, married Mrs. Alathere (_______) Bowlsby, 22 Aug 1830 - 19 Jan 1907. The Cemetery book shows him buried at Lakeside Cemetery, but his wife and parents are buried at Pleasant Lake Cemetery so I would assume he is there, too, as he died before his wife so I would assume, again, that there was room for him. He was the son of Alanson B. Knapp, 14 May 1808 - 10 Feb 1873, and Mary Ann (Carver) Knapp, 30 Sep 1809 - 09 Dec 1871.
