Steuben-Republican 2 August 1911 Ervin Knight, son of Mr. and Mrs. Aquilla Knight was born in Stark County, Ohio June 29, 1837 and died July 19, 1911 age 74 years 20 days. He was united in marriage to Miss Susan Haynes in 1856, spending 10 years of marriage in Ohio and moving here to Steuben County, Indiana. After 27 years more of married life, Mrs. Knight died, having brought into this world and kindly loving and mothering 10 children, five daughters and five sons. Twenty-three years ago, Mr. Knight married Nancy Ickes with whom he was happily married until his death. Two children blessed this union. Mr. Knight was honest, industrious and thouroughly reliable serving his township and neighborhood in public capacities several years to the entire satisfaction of all. He loved his home and was never so happy as when he could gather his family, neighbors and friends about him. He was always hale and hearty until about two years ago and none of the time since was his condition suppose to be serious until a few days ago, when he left his work in the field for his bed from which he never arose, gradually growing worse until the end came, which he met with the quiet courage and bravery charestic of his whole life. Those with him at the final scene were his faithful wife, daughters Lydia and Hazel and sons, Levi and Howard. Austin Knight, a well known blacksmith of Pleasant Lake is thought to be the only living representative of a family of thirteen children. Submitted by J.A. Childers
