LaRUE, Sylvester

Feb 25, 1885 Steuben Republican:

     Sylvester LaRue, son of John and Lydia LaRue, was born in Cayuga County, NY, Sept. 7, 1832.  He was married to Amine Vanderdecken Sage June 23, 1857 and died Feb 20, 1885 aged 52 years, 5 months and 13 days.
     When a child, he moved with his parents to Michigan and soon to Steuben County where he ever after resided.
     The deceased was a kind and indulgent husband; a dutiful son and a considerate neighbor, ever ready to do what he could towards relieving the needy; and in case of sickened was of invaluable help.  He had a large circle of acquaintances and will be greatly missed by the entire
community.
     The funeral took place at Disciple Church, being in charge of the Odd Fellows, an order he had been for many years a member.  After the exercises by the lodge a few remarks were made by Elder Stewart, after which the remains were taken to the Powers Cemetery for interment.
