STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, Wednesday, December 18, 1895, pg. 1, col.1 HENRY F. LEAVITT Mr. Henry F. Leavitt, aged 70 years, brother of Geo. P. Leavitt, died at his home in Garnett, Kansas, on Wednesday, December 4. He was sick only a short time. The deceased was born on September 8, 1895, at Warren, Trumbull county, Ohio, and came to Kansas in 1891, and located at Garnett where he engaged principally in farming, although he lived in town. Mrs. Jennie Smith Leavitt, his wife, whom he married in 1860, at Angola, Indiana, still survives him. No chidren were born to them. Besides Geo. P. Leavitt, of this city, there are two other brothers, H. H. and J. H. Leavitt, who reside in Anderson county. Also he leaves a sister, Mrs. B. D. Green, living in Watseka, Ill. There, too, his mother lives, a hearty matron at the ripe old age of 99 years. Funeral services were held on the 6th inst. At Garnett, Kan., and interment in Elmwood cemetery, Paola, Kan. Mr. Leavitt was well known and highly respected throughout eastern Kansas, and in fact wherever his business called him. He was a useful citizen, an honest, upright man. Paola, Kansas, Western Spirit.
