Undocumented Obit (most likely Steuben Republican week of 11 May 1897)

Mrs. Leland, one of the oldest settlers of Jamestown township, died on May
11th, and was buried the 13th in Jamestwon cemetery.  She lived and died on
the land they entered from the government more than fifty years ago..

Obituary -- Leland
Eliza Ann Yates, was born in Palmira, New York, Jan. 1, 1821; died in
Jamestown township, Steuben county, Ind., May 11, 1897; aged 76 years, 4
months and 10 days.  When a small girl her parents moved to Pennsylvania and
in 1841 she cam to Indaian; was married to Ezra Leland in 1842/  To this
union was born six children, four girls and two boys.  The husband and four
children have preceded her to the better land.  Two children, one son and
one daughter, and four grandchildren, one sister and a host of friends are
left to mourn her death.  She had lived on the place where she died, 54
years.
