STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 31, 1902, page 1, column 54 MATILDA (HOUSER) LIBEY, 12 Jan 1841 - 20 Dec 1902 Matilda Houser was born in Coshocton county, Ohio, Jan. 12, 1841, and died at her home in Hudson, Ind., Dec. 20, 1902, aged 61 years, 11 months and 8 days. Deceased came with her parents to Indiana when a small girl, and was united in marriage with George Libey, Jan. 20, 1861. To this union were born eleven children, eight sons and three daughters. Three died in infancy. The eldest son, Franklin, died Nov. 2, 1900. The husband, George E. Libey, departed this life April 24, 1902. Mrs. Libey united with the U. B. Church prior to 1878, and remained a faithful member of the church of her choice until the death angel called her home. The church has lost a faithful member, the children a kind and loving mother; but their loss is her eternal gain. She has left seven children, sixteen grandchildren, four sisters and a large circle of relatives and friends to mourn their loss. Funeral services were held Monday, Dec. 22, conducted by Rev. Davis, assisted by Rev. Pittenger. Those in attendance from a distance were D. Libey of Wakarusa; Mrs. Miller, of Albion; Shelly Hines, of Waterloo, and Mrs. Sarah Fink, of Ohio. Almon G. Libey, 1868 - 1940, on 01 Nov 1891, married Hattie B. (Dodge) Libey, 1870 - 1944, daughter of Henry Benson Dodge and Sally Betsey (Howard) Dodge. Almon and Hattie are buried at O-Hudson Cemetery. Charles Libey, 1870 - 1945, on 08 Jul 1897, married Carrie M. (Klink) Libey (Clink on marriage license), 1876 - 1966, buried at O-Hudson Cemetery. John E. Libey, 1872 - 14 Dec 1962, on 28 Nov 1897, married 2nd, Maude C. (Teeters), 10 Apr 1883 - 23 Sep 1970, daughter of Alonzo and Alice (Strickland) Teeters. John and Maude are buried at O-Hudson Cemetery. 1st wife not listed in Cemetery book. Ora W. Libey, 1878 - 1942, married Della M. (Snyder) Libey, 1879 - 1956, buried at O-Hudson Cemetery.
