Light Was one of a family of nine children born to Henry and Sophronia Light. He was born in Allen township, Alleghany county, New York, October 7, 1835, and departed this life June 10, 1911, age 75 years, 8 months and 3 days. He came with his parents to Indiana in 1844, where he has since spent the greater part of his life. He was married three times. First to Rachel Armstrong, and to this union one son was born. After his wife's death, he married Catherine Phenicie, March 11, 1862, and to this union was born seven children, four sons and three daughters, two daughters and one son having preceded him to the spirit work. Again death called the mother home, she dying Feb. 1, 1906. November 12, 1906, he was married to Mrs. Catharine Stallman. He leaves to mourn their loss, his wife and five children, Henry L., of Page, York township, Steuben county, Indiana; Grant, also of York, in whose home the father was tenderly cared for in his last sickness. The daughter, Della Averill, of Portland, Oregon; Arthur, of Minneapolis, Minn., and George P. Light, of Bisbee, Arizona. Besides these there are thirteen grandchildren. He also leaves two aged brothers, Charles Light, of Oregon, and Orlenzo Light, of Scott township, Steuben county, Indiana. Mr. Light was energetic, painstaking, strictly honest and ever ready to help the needy, as many of his neighbors could testify. Through all his long sickness, when his body was racked with extreme torture, he expressed a willingness to go and often wished that the end might come, and thus he entered the presence of the Great Judge. Andrew is buried at South Scott Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. No further information on Rachel. Andrew was the son of Henry Light, 1797 - 1865, and Sophronia (______) Light, 1812 - 1893. They are buried at South Scott Cemetery. On 24 Aug 1871, Sophronia married her 2nd husband, George Schwartz/Swartz. His burial place is unknown. CHILD of the 1st marriage, Henry L. Light, 23 Mar 1860 - 17 Jun 1938, on 04 Jul 1881, married Martha Eleanor (Beebe) Light, 22 Nov 1859 - 02 May 1923. They are buried at South Scott Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. 2nd Marriage on 11 Mar 1862, Catherine (Phenecie) Light, 05 Feb 1836 - 01 Feb 1906, who is buried at South Scott Cemetery. Catherine was the daughter of George W. and Mary Ann Phenecie. Spelled Phenecie in the Cemetery Book. CHILDREN OF THE 2ND MARRIAGE: Josephine S. Light, 21 Dec 1863 - 06 Dec 1865, buried at South Scott Cemetery. James Grant Light, 1865 - 1933, on 25 Dec 1890, married Mary E. (Zimmer) Light, 20 Nov 1867 - 01 Jan 1929. They are buried at South Scott Cemetery. Della (Jennie) (Light) Averill, born about 1867. Edith M. Light, 12 Mar 1869 - 14 Sep 1871, buried at South Scott Cemetery. Arthur Light, born about 1872. George P. Light, born about 1874. Frank O. Light, 19 Oct 1875 - 29 Jan 1891, buried at South Scott Cemetery. Arthur married 3rd on 13 Nov 1906, Catherine (_______) Stallman, 17 Feb 1835 - 07 May 1912, possibly the widow of C. F. Louie Stallman buried at Powers Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
