NELSON LINDQUIST, 26 May 1826 - 22 Dec 1903

   Nelson Lindquist, a son of Peter and Ingra Lindquist, was born in 
Stockholm, Sweden, May 26, 1826, and died Dec. 22, 1903, aged 77 years, 6 
months and 26 days.
   He came to the United States in 1850, being unable to speak a word of 
the English language, and located in Steuben county.  He worked at the 
blacksmith's trade in Orland for thirteen years.  During this time he 
purchased 143 acres of land paying for it in installments.  When he had 
finished paying for his land he was entirely without money, but he went to 
work with a determined will and by patience and perseverance overcame all 
obstacles and accumulated a good property.  He cleared and cultivated his 
land and erected a good residence and substantial farm buildings.  When he 
left the old country he had to borrow the money to pay his passage, but 
this indebtedness was soon canceled and a commencement of future 
prosperity and a home made.  In 1859 he was married to Mary A. Kale.  To 
this union were born three children, two sons and one daughter.  The sons 
passed away in infancy, the mother also preceded him by about two years.  
The daughter, Ella, alone remains of the family circle.  For the past 
three years he had been nearly helpless from rheumatism, but was patient 
and uncomplaining, finding his greatest happiness as it has ever been in 
his home duties.  He was a kind neighbor, an upright and honest citizen 
and will be missed most in his home life and neighborhood circle.

- 1902, daughter of James and Bridget (Flynn) Kale.  Nelson and Mary are 
buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, Indiana.

CHILDREN:
   Henry Lindquist, 20 Mar 1861 - 27 Apr 1862, (1y.1m.7d) buried at 
Memorial Grove Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Ella (Lindquist) Underhill, 17 Oct 1864 - 07 Aug 1915, (51y.2m.10d) 
married John Underhill.  Ella is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.  No record 
of John's burial place.
   Albert Lindquist, 17 Oct 1871 - 21 Dec 1872, (1y.2m.4d). Buried at 
Memorial Grove Cemetery.

NELSON LINDQUIST'S BROTHERS:
   Peter Lindquist, 1818 - 1903, married Annette (______) Lindquist, 1819 
- 1905.  They are buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.
   Andrew Lindquist, 1821 - 1899, buried at Greenlawn Cemetery.
