KAY LASH COLLECTION, CARNEGIE PUBLIC LIBRARY OF STEUBEN COUNTY, ANGOLA, INDIANA JOHN LININGER, 07 Feb 1824 - 28 Jul 1898 John Lininger was born in Stark Co., Ohio, February 7, 1824, died at his home in Otsego township, July 28, 1898, aged 74 years, 5 months and 21 days. Deceased was married to Elizabeth Dotts, August 26, 1849. Of the eight children born to them, but three are living, Sarah, wife of Charles Rozell; Francis and John. Deceased's wife died March 2, 1864. April 23, 1865, he was married to Mrs. Amelia Taylor-Cleveland. To this union were born four children, Sylvia, wife of Eugene Gilmore; Elmer, (died in infancy); Louie, wife of Elmer Rinehart; Nettie, wife of Elijah Shumaker. In 1862 deceased enlisted in the 29th Indiana Inf. He was a member of the G. A. R.; also of the Angola Lodge No. 180, I.O.O.F. In 1869 he united with the Methodist church. He leaves a wife, six children and one brother to mourn the loss of a loving husband, a kind and indulgent father. Sarah Catherine (Lininger) Rozell, 24 Dec 1851 - 02 May 1911, on 31 Dec 1871, married Charles O. Rozell, 1849 - 1906. Charles was the son of David C. Rozell who died 02 Jan 1892, and his 1st wife, Sarah B. Rozell who died 28 Jul 1873. They are all buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana. Alfred Lininger, 19 Oct 1853 - 03 Nov 1853, buried at South Scott Cemetery. Francis M. Lininger, 1854 - 1934, married Amelia Victoria (Cleveland) Lininger, 1861 - 1952. They are buried at South Scott Cemetery. Amelia Victoria was the daughter of Amelia (Taylor) Cleveland Lininger and her 1st husband, Frederick Cleveland. John A. Lininger, 1857 - 1937, on 24 Apr 1877, married Sarah Amelia (Wiggins) Lininger, born 1855, no date of death. John is buried at South Scott Cemetery, Sarah's burial place unknown. George H. Lininger, 27 Jun 1860 - 28 Jan 1865, buried at South Scott Cemetery. Lydia J. Lininger, 04 Apr 1862 - 29 Jan 1864, buried at South Scott Cemetery. William P. Lininger, 02 Feb 1864 - 06 May 1880, buried at Scott Scott Cemetery. 2nd MARRIAGE: On 23 Apr 1865, John married Amelia (Taylor) Cleveland Lininger, 15 Dec 1832 - 06 Aug 1901. She is buried at South Scott Cemetery. CHILDREN OF 2ND MARRIAGE: Sylvia A. (Lininger) Gilmore, 16 Apr 1866 - 02 Sep 1898, on 05 Dec 1889, married Eugene W. Gilmore (Gilson on marriage license), no dates for birth or death. They are buried at South Scott Cemetery. Elmer E. Lininger, 11 Aug 1868 - 02 Jul 1869, buried at South Scott Cemetery. Luella (Lininger) Rinehart, 1871 - 1953, married Elmer E. Rinehart, 1864 - 1946. They are buried at South Scott Cemetery. Nettie (Lininger) Shumaker, 1873 - 1901, on 09 Jan 1895, married Elijah Shumaker, 1871 - 21 June 1934. Elijah's 2nd wife was Emma Jane (Wolf) Shumaker, 12 Jan 1882 - 02 Jul 1970, daughter of Joseph and his 2nd wife,Emma (Tubbs) Stover Allen Wolf. All are buried At Mt.
