Lucas, aged 70 years, 8 months and 24 days. Deceased was born in Mushingum county, Ohio, and came to Kinderhook in 1854, and after ten years removed to Steuben county where he resided until death. He was the eldest of nine children, of whom four brothers and one sister survive him. Funeral services were held at the Collins' school house, conducted by Elder Brown. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: James was the oldest son of Israel Lucas who was born 03 Jul 1795 in Washington City, Washington County, Ohio. He died 05 Aug 1879 and is buried at Jamestown Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana. On 01 Mar 1827, in Muskingum, Ohio, Israel married Betsy Elizabeth (Bailey) Lucas, born 31 Mar 1806 in Clearfield, Pa., and died 06 Jan 1878 in Orland, Steuben County, Indiana. Siblings of James Hiram Lucas: Robert B. Lucas, 12 May 1830 - 05 Mar 1888, married Amy (Cravens) Lucas, born about 1837, died in 1912. Note: the obit of her son, Frank Lucas, states that Amy died in 1912. The 1880 Federal Census gives her age as 43. They are buried at Jamestown Cemetery. Zevoline/Zevolinia (Lucas) Taylor Steward, 22 Oct 1832/33 - 16 Feb 1924, married 1st, Henry K. Taylor, 06 Jun 1829 - 16 Jun 1865. Married 2nd, James A. Stewart, 10 Jun 1844 - 08 Sep 1868. Sameul Lucas, 19 Feb 1844 - 15 Jun 1846, born and died in Belpointe, Delaware County, Ohio. Thomas Eule Lucas, born 21 Mar 1849 in Belpointe, Delaware County, Ohio. Died 23 Mar 1937 in Orland, Steuben County, Indiana. Married Sarah Helen (Chrysler) Lucas, 01 Apr 1850/51 - 23 May 1916, daughter of Abraham and his 1st wife, Martha Chrysler.
