Steuben-Republican 4 Nov 1925 CHESTER MARSH Chester Marsh, son of Ebeneezer and Minerva Marsh, was born in Branch County, Michigan June 3, 1853. When he was two years of age, his father died and two years later, his mother passed away. He was then taken into the home of Lyman and Sally Lyon, Mrs. Lyon being an aunt, and here he grew to manhood. He attended the school both at Orland and Angola, and fitted himself for a teacher and spent seven years teaching in Michigan and Indiana. On April 11, 1880, he was married to Miss Eva Webb, who has been his devoted companion and helpmate through the intervening years. In 1886, he united with the M.E. Church at Orland and proved a faithful and consistent member. His health has been somewhat impaired the past two years, but no immediate danger was anticipated and he and his wife were visiting in the home of Edgar Wilson and wife, near Alagansee, Michigan, when he was taken ill and after five days, he passed the great divide, Oct. 21, 1925, and left to mourn his departure the faithful wife and two daughters, Mrs. Lizzie Spangle and Mrs. Elzie Collins residing near Orland, also six grand-children and many relatives and friends. His life was clean, upright and unassuming, and the community has lost a good citizen. His lifes' span was 68 years, 4 months and 18 days. * There was also a poem by Tennyson included Submitted by J.A.Childers jeanannchilders@gmail.com
