   DIED--MATHEWS---In Pleasant township, August 12, 1880, 
Noble Mathews, aged 79 years, 1 month and 28 days.

The STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, Wednesday, July 20, 1904, p.7, c.7, 
"Twenty Four Years Ago" Richland Township, Steuben County, 
Indiana, lists Noble Mathews in a list of people in the 
county who were over 75 years of age on the first day of 
June, 1880.

   Noble Butler Mathews, 14 Jun 1801 - 12 Aug 1880, married 
Amelia (_____) Mathews, 25 Dec 1804 - 13 Nov 1877.  They are 
buried at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  
Noble was the son of Levi Mathews, born about 1769, and Sarah 
(Butler) Mathews, born about 1773.  They were married in 
Chester County, Pennsylvania.

CHILDREN OF THE MARRIAGE:

   Levi Mathews, 18, Oct 1829 - 26 Feb 1904, on 15 Feb 1855, 
married Elizabeth M. (Waller) Mathews, 23 Aug 1834 - 05 July 
1906.  They are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, 
Steuben County, Indiana.
   Amos Mathews, no dates, burial place unknown.
   Sarah Ann (Mathews) Casey, no dates, on 22 Feb 1859 (per 
marriage license), 11 Feb 1858 (per 1885 DeKalb County 
History), married Benjamin Casey, 04 Sep 1835, no date of 
death.  Burial place unknown.

POSSIBLE CHILDREN:
   Benjamin Mathews, 1832 - 1895, on 27 Sep 1855, married 
Lucinda (Beebe) Mathews, 1834 - 1880.  They are buried at 
Otsego Center, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Joseph Mathews, on 18 Apr 1861, married Alvinia (Snyder) 
Mathews.  Their burial place is unknown.
