CORNELIA (SHERMAN) HINMAN MAY, 15 Dec 1841 - 18 Aug 1900

   Cornelia Sherman was born in Geauga county, Ohio, Dec. 15, 1841.   
In 1846, she came with her parents to Richland township, DeKalb 
county, Ind.  At the age of 14 she confessed her faith in Christ. In 
1862 she was united in marriage to Henry Hinman.  To this union was 
born a daughter, May A. Hinman.  Her husband died in 1863, in 
Nashville, Tenn., and was buried in the southland.  In 1867 she was 
united in marriage to John B. May.  To them were born seven 
children, five boys and two girls, William H., Hattie A., Olive A.,  
James A., John A., R. Orestes and Karl A.  She lived a faithful 
christian life, leading all of her children, save one, to accept her 
Christ.  Surely "She hath done what she could." After a lingering 
illness she died August 18th, 1900, aged 58 years, 8 months and 3 
days.  She leaves a husband, eight children, nine grandchldren and a 
large circle of friends to mourn her departure, but we sorrow not as 
those who have no hope, for we believe she is enjoying a mansion and 
wearing a crown of righteousness which the Lord, her righteous 
Judge, shall give to all that love His appearing.  Funeral services 
were conducted at the home Aug. 20 by J. H. Stove, after which she 
was tenderly laid to rest in the cemetery at Hamilton.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:

   Cornelia (Sherman) Hinman May, 15 Dec 1841 - 18 Aug 1900, married Henry 
Hinman, born about 1837 and died in 1863.  He is probably buried in a 
Military Cemetery as he was undoubtedly killed in the Civil War. Cornelia's 
parents are Samuel Sherman, 03 Jul 1804 - 1862, and Eunice (Edic) Sherman, 
11 Jun 1806 - 10 Mar 1902.  There is no information in the Cemetery books 
about the daughter, Mary, born to Cornelia and Henry.

   In February 1867, Cornelia was married to John B. May, 1838 - 1916 who 
is buried at Hamilton Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.

Children:  

   William H. May, 1867 - 1903, married Mary C. (Duncan) 1871 - ?.  They 
are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.
   John A. May, 1873 - 13 Oct 1933, married Zetta A. (Cox) May, 16 Oct 1877 
- Nov 1972, daughter of Isaac Newton Cox and Anna (Stamets) Cox.
   James A. May, born in 1867, no other information.
   R. Orestes May, born in 1869, no other information.
   Karl A. May, born in 1871, no other information. 
   Harriet A. May, born in 1873, no other information.
   Olive A. May, born in 1875, no other information.
