STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MARCH 2, 1904, page 1, column 6 ROBERT JEFFERSON McKINLEY, 05 Mar 1827 - 24 Feb 1904 Robert Jefferson McKinley was born in Portage county, Ohio, Match 5, 1897, and died at his home near Angola, Feb. 24, 1904, aged 76 years, 11 months and 10 days. He was married to Henrietta Carpenter, February 28, 1849, with whom he lived 51 years, she dying nearly 4 years ago. To this union were born nine children, six of whom, three sons and three daughters are living, four of whom were present, two daughters being absent on account of sickness. Three of the children died in infancy. Mr. McKinley came to Steuben county, about the year 1854 where he has since resided. He was one of a family of seven children, all of whom have passed to the great beyond except one brother and one sister. During a series of meetings held by Elder Bower six years ago this winter, he together with his aged companion united with the Fairview Christian church.
