STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, MAY 28, 1902, page 1, column 7 LUZETTE B. (BARNARD) MERRILL, 12 Mar 1837 - 26 May 1902 Mrs. Ira Merrill, east of town, died Monday morning at 11 o'clock. Mrs. Merrill was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lewis Barnard, who were among the early settlers of Millgrove township, and well known to all the older citizens. Her husband, a daughter and an adopted daughter preceded Mrs. Merrill into the beyond. A sister, and the only survivor of a large family, resides in California, Mrs. Keoka Adams. Mrs. Merrill submitted to an operation last Friday, from which she did not rally. Funeral, Wednesday, afternoon, in the Baptist church, of which she has been a member for many years, burial in Green Lawn cemetery. Burial place of Lewis Barnard not specifically identified, all others are buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Orland, Steuben County, Indiana, Sec. B, Lot 24. There must have been a Barnard - Merrell plot. CHILDREN: Patty L. Merrell, 27 Jul 1873 - 06 Aug 1874, buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Sec. B, Lot 24. Rose Belle Merrell, 06 Aug 1876 - 05 Oct 1894, buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Sec. B, Lot 24. SIBLINGS OF Luzette: Infant brother, 27 Jan 1827 - 30 Jun 1827, born in Vermont. Inscripiton on monument states buried at Greenlawn, Sec. B, Lot 24, but buried in the state of Vermont. Hannah (Barnard) Smith, 12 Feb 1831 - 22 Oct 1856, died in Topeka, Kansas, on 25 Dec 1854, married Matthew Smith, son of Hezekiah Smith and 1st wife, Mary (Calkins) Smith. Hannah is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery, Sec. B, Lot 24. IDENTIFIED AS SIBLINGS because they are all buried in Greenlawn Cemetery, Sec. B, Lot 24: Sophia H.
