STEUBEN REPUBLICAN, WEDNESDAY, DECEMBER 2, 1903, page 8, columns 1, 2 CALVIN MERWIN, 10 Aug 1829 -24 Nov 1903 Calvin S. Merwin, son of Talicot and Phoebe Tidd Merwin, was born in Niagara county, N. Y., Aug. 10, 1829, and departed this life at the home of his son at Montpelier, Ohio, Nov. 24, 1903, aged 74 years, 3 months and 14 days. Early in life he came to California, Branch county, Mich., with his parents, who settled on a farm there where he remained until 1865. He then went to Iowa for several years returning to Fremont, Ind., in 1872, and has lived in this vicinity since that time till about four weeks ago, when he went to Montpelier, Ohio, to live with his son Bert. He was united in marriage with Emily E. Beach at Coldwater, Mich., July 8, 1852, to this union were born eight children, four of whom with his wife, one sister, twelve grandchildren and a large circle of friends are left to mourn their loss. The funeral services were held at the California church Saturday at 2 p.m., Rev. Reichelderfer officiating. Interment in the California cemetery. ADDITIONAL INFORMATION: Calvin S.
