ADAM METZGAR, 26 Apr 1806 - 31 Aug 1881

Metzgar-In Angola, August 31, 1881, Adam Metzgar, aged 45 
years, 4 months and 5 days.  (NOTE: this figures out to age 
75 years of age, not 45 years as the obituary states.)
   Mr. Metzgar was born April 26, 1806, in Lewisburg, Pa.  In 
1840 he removed to this county, and settled on a farm near 
Hamilton, where he remained for two years, but feeling 
himself not adapted to farming, removed to Angola, and 
followed his trade, that of a mason, as long as he was able.  
A short time before his death he was stricken with paralysis.
   He was the father of four children, Jacob J., John, Mrs. 
Jesse Gale and Mrs. Ambrose Snyder.
   The funeral took place from the Methodist church last 
Friday and was largely attended.

at the Old Angola Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, Indiana.  
His 2nd wife was Sarah Lamira (Jones) Jagger Metzgar, 22 Jan 
1820 - 22 Jul 1910, daughter of Ziba Jones, 23 Sep 1793 - 13 
Nov 1880 and Flora Agnes (Everett) Jones, 09 May 1796 - 15 
Mar 1872.  Sarah is buried beside her 1st husband, William 
Jagger, 02 Nov 1812 - 13 Oct 1865, and her parents at Jones 
Chapel, Steuben County, Indiana. 

CHILDREN FROM THE 1st MARRIAGE:
   Elizabeth C. (Metzgar) Gale, 08 Sep 1831 - 05 Feb 1893, 
married Jesse Monroe Gale, 18 Jun 1828 - 28 Nov 1890.  They 
are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery, Angola, Steuben County, 
Indiana.   Jesse was the son of Jesse Gale, 02 Jan 1794 - 24 
Sep 1827, and Jane (Brown) Gale.
   Mary M. (Metzgar) Snyder, 11 Feb 1833 - 04 Jul 1904, 
married Ambrose W. Snyder, 04 Dec 1832 - 13 Apr 1909.  They 
are buried at Circle Hill Cemetery.
   Jacob Metzgar, 1834 - 1922, married Mary Jane (____) 
Metzgar, 18423 - 1900.  They are buried at Circle Hill 
Cemetery.
