HARRIET CAROLINE (SPANGLE) METZGAR, 21 Mar 1855 - 26 Jul 1904

   Harriet Caroline Spangle was born in Steuben county, Ind., March 21, 
1855, and was married to Elias Metzgar in 1873, died in the hospital at 
Ann Arbor, July 26, 1904, and was buried in Coldwater which had been her 
home for many years, on July 29.  She was united with the U. B. church in 
1875 and kept her membership with that people until the summons came to 
join the church triumphant.  She leaves to mourn, her husband, two 
brothers, Lafayette and Edmund Spangle, one sister, Mrs. S. Parsons, and 
one half brother, Henry Spangle, of Jackson Prairie.

buried at Coldwater, Branch County, Michigan.
   No children mentioned in the obituary.

   Harriet was the daughter of Henry Spangle, 08 Mar 1821 - 12 Aug 1907, 
who married his 2nd wife on 09 Aug 1853, Elizabeth (Collins) Alcott Spangle 
who died 25 Feb 1873 (61y.9m.26d.).  They are buried at Jackson Prairie 
Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.  Elizabeth's 1st husband was Michael 
Alcott, 1795 - 1845, and he is buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery. 
   Henry Spangle married his 1st wife on 11 Jan 1849, Mary (Coy) Spangle, 
1828 - 1853.  Mary is buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.  
   CHILDREN from the 1st marriage:
   Lafayette J. Spangle, 1845 - ? , on 24 Jul 1869, married Sarah Margaret 
(Browning) Spangle, 1849 - 17 Nov 1872 (23y.7m.27d.).  Sarah is buried at 
Hamilton Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Susan Lucinda (Spangle) Parsons, 23 Jan 1846 - 08 May 1921, on 30 Jan 
1862, married Seymour Parsons, 1840 - 1917.  They are buried at Lake Gage 
Cemetery, Steuben County, Indiana.
   Emeline Spangle, 1849 - 1851, buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.
   Edmund Spangle, no further information.
   Henry married his 3rd wife on 25 Sep 1873, Sarah (Metzgar) Spangle, 22 
Feb 1841 - 20 or 29th May 1912, daughter of Adam and Mary (Leist) Metzgar.
Sarah is buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.
   CHILDREN from 3rd marriage:
   Carrie (Spangle) Hellinger, 10 Nov 1874 - 16 Jun 1905 (1906 in 1885 
History).  On 06 Dec 1893, married Jacob A. Hellinger.  Carrie is buried 
at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.  Jacob's burial place unknown.
   Clyde S. Spangle, 03 Jan 1877 - 27 Jul 1951, on 19 Nov 1899, married 
1st, Myrtle V. (Moore) Spangle, 25 Jan 1876 - 13 Jan 1902, died following 
the birth of their son, Estel, 04 Jan 1902, and he died 18 Feb 1902.  He 
married for the 2nd time on 30 Dec 1903, Lizzie Maud (Marsh) Spangle, 1881 
- 14 Jul 1953.  They are buried at Jackson Prairie Cemetery.  Lizzie was 
the daughter of Chester and Eva (Webb) Marsh.
   Obituary did not mention Harriet's half brother, Charles Alcott, or 
half sister, Carrie Hellinger.
